Patrick’s Roadhouse: Family Fun and Great Food in the Santa Monica Canyon
by Cindy Ambuehl on October 26, 2011Sometimes called the “Barney’s Beanery by the beach,” Patrick’s Roadhouse has been one of my family’s favorite restaurants to go to in the Santa Monica Canyon for quite some time.
Here are some of the reasons why this place is so great:
- Ambiance: The ambiance in Patrick’s Roadhouse is wonderful. It’s much more casual then some of the “hipper” Los Angeles restaurants, but it’s so much fun and is honestly more enjoyable because of it. It’s super funky and very entertaining. You’ll never ever miss the turn because Patrick’s Roadhouse’s exteriors are completely painted in green. What other restaurant in LA is so bold with their color choice? It’s awesomely quirky and I always have a blast just looking around inside of the restaurant. The decorations are very fun as well.
- Food: We all obviously go to restaurants to eat, not just to look at the decor, and this is another excellent thing about Patrick’s Roadhouse. Whatever my family orders, we always love and devour it. My favorite is definitely the mushroom burger, a gourmet favorite with a twist of magic from the chefs, but if you’re more of a breakfast person I recommend the mozzarella omelet with sun dried tomatoes. Have a bit of a sweet tooth? Enjoy a slice of their amazing pie after your meal. You won’t regret it!
- Service: We’ve become quite close to the owner of Patrick’s Roadhouse over the years and can say absolutely that he never lets anything leave the kitchen that isn’t perfect. He really understands the restaurant and its patrons, and he works hard to create a restaurant that is unique to Santa Monica Canyon’s residents. If you see him, tell him we sent you!
Patrick’s Roadhouse is really not the place to bring your laptops or iPhones. Its patrons pride the establishment on being a well deserved break from the typical Los Angeles life. It’s a place for relaxation, somewhere to step away from their busy lives and enjoy the ocean breeze, not to mention the excellent food.
