The Hungry Cat in Santa Monica Canyon: Great Seafood with a Fun Family Vibe
by Cindy Ambuehl on August 26, 2011If you have been looking for a great seafood restaurant in your community and have yet to find one, you should definitely check out The Hungry Cat.
The Hungry Cat recently opened in the Santa Monica Canyon at 100 W. Channel Rd. This is the third location of David Lentz’s extremely popular seafood restaurant (the others are located in Hollywood and Santa Barbara). They have a variety of cocktails, an eccentric wine list, and the menu consists of classic and innovative seafood dishes.
Here are some things to know about The Hungry Cat:
- It has a fantastic raw bar. Raw bar and cocktails are served all day on weekends!
- They are open from Sunday-Thursday 5:30pm-10:30pm (11:30pm on Friday and Saturday).
- They are now serving brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am-3:00pm.
- Valet parking is available.
This past week, I walked to The Hungry Cat from my home in the Santa Monica Canyon with my husband and three of our boys. I love being able to walk to nearby restaurants in the community with my family. The restaurant is decorated beautifully with splashes of blue color that fit into the beach setting of Santa Monica Canyon perfectly. When we arrived, we were greeted by my our older son who works there. The service was great, our waiter was very helpful in suggesting what to try. We ordered a seafood platter to get a little taste of everything and we were not disappointed. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the mussels were so yummy steamed. This restaurant is quickly becoming a weekly favorite for my family and me; we are going again this weekend!
